Extraordinary Review | Solactive Global Lithium Index and Solactive Global Lithium (EUR) Index | 8 May 2019

Solactive announces that following an extraordinary review of the Solactive Global Lithium Index and the Solactive Global Lithium (EUR) Index (together the Indices), the current index constituent FMC CORP will be removed from the Indices. The released weighting of FMC CORP will be distributed proportionately among the remaining  index constituents. The change takes effect on 13 May 2019 (open). The new index composition and corresponding number of shares for the index constituents will be announced on the effective date.

Rationale for the change

In the context of a spin-off of FMC CORP, effective as of 3 April 2019, a new company (LIVENT CORP) was founded. The lithium business of FMC CORP was spun off into LIVENT CORP. Accordingly, FMC CORP has no direct exposure to the lithium business anymore.

According to the methodology applicable to the Indices, both FMC CORP and LIVENT CORP continued to be included in the Indices as index constituents (with a corresponding weighting distribution) after the spin-off became effective. However, a review of the Indices has shown that after the spin-off a large part of the weighting is allocated to FMC CORP that does not belong to the lithium intended to be reflected by the Indices, thus jeopardizing the objective pursued by the Indices.
