Rationale for Methodology Change

Solactive has determined that due to a legacy provider elimination, the Thomson Reuters Business Classification System (TRBC) is no longer available for the selection process of the indices above. As a result, Solactive has deemed a transition to FactSet’s Revere Business Classification System (RBICS) is necessary.

Changes to the Index Guideline

The following Methodology changes are proposed in the following points of the Index Guideline (Index Universe Requirements and Index Component Requirements):

From:

3) Apply Thomson Reuters Business Classification screen

  • For each company included in the Index Universe, the Thomson Reuters Business Classification (TRBC) of the company is obtained. The TRBC classification structure includes four hierarchical levels: Economic Sector, Business Sector, Industry Group, and Industry. For each company in the Index Universe, the company is retained in the Index Universe only if under the TRBC classification, its Economic Sector is classified as “Technology”.

To:

3) Apply FactSet Revere Business Classification screen

For each company included in the Index Universe, the FactSet Revere Business Classification System (RBICS) of the company is obtained. The RBICS classification structure includes six hierarchical levels: Economy, Sector, Sub-Sector, Industry Group, Industry, and Sub-Industry. For each company in the Index Universe, the company is retained in the Index Universe only if under the RBICS classification, its Industry Group is classified under any of the following Industry Groups:

RBICS Industry Group Number

RBICS Industry Group Name

Defined terms used in this announcement, but not defined herein, have the meaning assigned to them in the respective index guideline of the Affected Indices. The amended version of the index guideline will be available on the effective date.
