GPR 250 Index stages a comeback in April 2026

Listed real estate sector bounces back to gains

April 2026 marked a decisive rebound for the listed real estate sector, with the GPR 250 Index recovering sharply from the previous month’s losses and returning to solid positive performance for the calendar year. The GPR 250 Index gained 6.9% in local currency terms, with the recovery broad based as there were wins for Americas (8.3%), Africa (5.3%), Europe (5.2%), Oceania (4.0%) and Asia (3.6%).

Court approves National Storage REIT buyout

National Storage REIT announced that the Supreme Court of New South Wales granted approval for its proposed schemes, paving the way for its acquisition by entities established and jointly indirectly owned by a consortium of the Brookfield Funds (being funds owned or managed by Brookfield Asset Management Limited or its affiliates and their managed funds) and affiliates of GIC.

Sila Realty Trust, Inc. to be acquired

Certain affiliates associated with Blue Owl Real Estate Capital LLC, the real estate arm of Blue Owl Capital, Inc., will pay USD 30.38 per share to acquire Sila Realty Trust, Inc.’s 137 mostly single-tenant properties and delist the company. The deal has unanimous approval from Sila Realty Trust, Inc.’s management board, and the all-cash transaction is expected to close in the second or third quarter of 2026, subject to shareholder approval and customary conditions.

Takeover of Life Science REIT completes

The management boards of Life Science REIT and British Land Company PLC announced that the scheme of arrangement had become effective and, pursuant to the scheme of arrangement, the entire issued and to be issued share capital of Life Science REIT is now owned by British Land Company PLC. Pursuant to the scheme of arrangement, Life Science REIT shareholders were entitled to receive 0.07 British Land Company PLC shares and 14.1 pence in cash for each (1) share held.
